The American Animal Hospital Association or AAHA is an international association of veterinary care providers, who treat companion animals. It was established in 1933 and is well known for its high standards of veterinary medical care. AAHA has established 900 different standards addressing all areas of veterinary care including the physical facility and equipment, quality of care, diagnostic and medical protocols, client service, and staff training. The standards are contually updated to ensure they remain consistent with evolving knowledge and technology. Consultants from AAHA inspect accredited veterinary hospitals regularly to ensure the practice is in compliance with its standards.
