The use of real bones is not recommended. They can help somewhat-to scrape off tartar-but real bones tend to cause more problems than they are worth. Splinters can cause GI upset, obstruction, and of course chipped teeth can occur. There are many safer alternatives, including Kong Toys and Nylabones.
