Yes, cats may carry Toxoplasmosis, but are not the major source of infections for humans. Cats pick it up from eating rodents or raw meat. Humans can become infected by cleaning the litter box and coming in contact with dried fecal material. If a pregnant woman is infected with Toxoplasmosis, especially during the first trimester, her unborn child may develop birth defects.
